Reading on behalf of David’s daughter Janette and son in law Gerald

David moved from Glasgow to Kent in 1953 when he took a senior level job in Marley Tiles. He had a young family and they followed very shortly after. In fact, the family arrived on the overnight sleeper from Glasgow on Coronation day. The golden coaches going by as they came out of St Pancras were a bit of a wonder to two girls of eight and seven.

His daughters Janette and Eleanor grew up in Kemsing and went to school in Sevenoaks and Tonbridge. David loved his daughters and they in return adored him. They were with him and helped him through the difficult times of his life. They grew up and had their careers which David followed with interest. Janette worked in catering and property management and Eleanor became a teacher which was her aim in life. Such has been David's longevity that he has been able to see both of them follow their careers through to retirement. Janette chose to retire to France and Eleanor to Spain

David and Diana were constant visitors to Eleanor and Gerald’s home wherever they have lived – in the UK, in Europe or in California. They’ve always been together as family. Janette and Gerald are truly devastated by his loss and their hearts go out to Diana.
